Managing Director of Aasandha Company Limited Mariyam Shafeeq has stated the company does to wish to operate as a business hub.
Delivering the vision of Aasandha to the media, Managing Director Mariyam Shafeeq said the aim is not to make Hulhumale' Hospital as a business centre of the national healthcare insurance company. Noting Hulhumale' Hospital was operated by the company when the current board assumed its mandate, she said efforts were exerted to improve the services and equipment at the facility. She added importance was given on solving clinical issues and supply issues.
Highlighting although the hospital is equipped with a ventilator, it was not functional due to the lack of kits, Mariyam Shafeeq expressed arrangements to operate the ventilator was made with the assistance from State Trading Organisation (STO). She revealed MRI scanning and CT scanning mechanisms were also arranged assuring to improve the services provided in the hospital.
Furthermore, the managing director highlighted a 3-storey and a 6-storey building were not used when the new board assumed work, revealing the company is working to develop private rooms in the 3-storey building. She said other services will be introduced in the 6-storey building.
Highlighting 14 projects were signed when the hospital was handed over to Aasandha, Mariyam Shafeeq added some projects were on hold despite payments made in advance. She further said the board is now seeking legal opinion regarding the agreements and some projects have been completely dismissed following discussions.
In addition, she revealed the company has held discussions with the government regarding the operations of the hospital. She expressed the aim is to provide better services to the citizens rather than operating as a business entity.
Aasandha is a state-owned company tasked with managing the national healthcare insurance scheme provided by the government. Established in 2011, Aasandha administers and manages national healthcare insurance scheme and facilitates the provision of quality and assured healthcare for Maldivians.
