Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions Rozaina Adam reveals importance will be given on live broadcasting interviews held to appoint members for independent institutions.
Speaking to PSM News, Parliamentarian Rozaina Adam stated discussions were held earlier to live broadcast such interviews, adding more emphasis will be put on broadcasting the interviews. Rozaina said the parliament speaker and many parliamentarians support live broadcasting such committee meetings.
Dismissing claims live broadcasting the interviews will benefit a nominated candidate, Rozaina revealed the members appointed to different independent commissions will be asked different questions. She added parliamentarians who are not members of the committee must also be familiar with the nominations to ensure the votes are cast for the most deserving nominees.
The authority to allow journalists to the committee meetings is solely given to the respective committees, according to the regulations of the parliament.
