With several health issues reported, HPA appeals to pay extra caution

Health Protection Authority (HPA) has appealed to pay extra caution on the current weather as several health issues have been reported across the country.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said some health issues caused due to weather have been reported to HPA. Dr. Afzal highlighted some diseases reported include diarrhoea, flu, cold and other water borne diseases. He advised to refrain children from playing in water puddles as it will present the child to different vectors. He said it is important to ensure food children consume are clean.

Furthermore, the Dr. Afzal urged to be extra cautious with keeping medicine during rainy season and to make sure medicine are not affected by water. He advised to refrain from consuming any medicine affected by water.

Moreover, HPA counselled to chlorinate well water before consuming during monsoon season.
