National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has stated damages caused by monsoon rain are relatively massive compared to past years.
Speaking to PSM News regarding monsoon rain, Deputy Chief Executive of NDMA Umar Moosa Fikuree mentioned damages have been caused to several parts of the country. Noting about 70 households incurred damages, he revealed 50 of the damages households are in Addu City.
The deputy chief executive advised to build stronger houses in the future by keeping in mind the weather changes, adding the damages are irreversible. He stated the authority has spent over 96-thousand US dollars to repair the damages so far this year.
Meanwhile, Maldives Meteorological Service has advised to be alerted about the weather updates for the next 24 hours.
