Pakistan celebrate Independence Day in Maldives

The Embassy of Pakistan in Maldives has celebrated the 73rd Independence Day of Pakistan.

The celebrations commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony held at the Pakistani embassy in Male' City. The flag was hoisted by Ambassador of Pakistan to Maldives Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Waseem Akram.

Speaking at the ceremony, the ambassador highlighted how Pakistan gained its independence on August 14, 1947 following the end of the British Raj. He mentioned it is importance to reminisce the leadership and courage of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who played a major role in declaring Pakistan a sovereign state.

Furthermore, Ambassador Waseem Akram noted Pakistan will always maintain relations with Kashmiris and remember the challenging lives they live.

During the ceremony, a special message from Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was delivered for the Pakistani citizens residing in Maldives.
