Statistics has showed the Maldives is among the top oversees destinations for Chinese tourists.
Chinese travel website, Mafengwo, recently unveiled the names of most popular overseas destination among young Chinese travellers in 2019, based on its big data and analysis of user preferences over the past year. The top 10 destinations among Chinese travellers are Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, Maldives, South Korea, Philippines and Australia, according to the statistics.
While the amount of Chinese tourists travelling to Maldives have decreased over the years, the number have begun to increase recently. In this regard, 16.3% of the total tourists who arrived in Maldives were from China, according to statistics of Ministry of Tourism.
In June this year, 265,140 tourists arrived in Maldives from China which is an increase of 10% compared to the total 412,127 tourists.
