While the ticket sales were opened on Tuesday, all flights until August 17 have been fully booked. One-way ticket of Kulhudhuffushi cost USD 72, according to Island Aviation. State Minister Zuhair expressed hope some developments needed for the airport can be conducted this year despite the lack of budget.
Although test flights were conducted at the airport in September last year, the commencement of operations was postponed due to the delay in constructing a terminal.
Speaking on behalf of Island Aviation Services Limited, General Manager, Reservation Aminath Sameeha said the number of flights to the new destination will be increased in reference to demand.
While Kulhudhuffushi is home to a population of over 12,000 people, the airport was widely awaited by the island's population.
