Ministry of Finance has made an announcement seeking interested parties to establish ice producing plants in two islands.
The finance ministry issued a notice seeking contractors to establish the facilities in Gaafaru in Kaafu Atoll and Maduvvari in Raa Atoll. The contractor will be chosen under the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) policy and interested parties will have to pay a non-refundable deposit of USD 100 to participate in the bid, according to the ministry. Meanwhile, for each project, a bid security of USD 1,941 must be submitted.
The administration decided to establish saltwater ice producing plants in Gaafaru and Maduvvari to easily provide local fishermen with ice while at sea. In efforts to address the complaints of the fishermen that not enough ice is available, the administration has commenced a project to establish at least one facility in each atoll.
