Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has stated efforts are underway to amend the salary structure of teachers.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office, Education Minister Aishath Ali said teachers are not given the full benefit of their jobs. She added their jobs are invaluable and paying them an amount to meet the value of their work is impossible. However, the education minister said efforts are underway to amend the current salary structure.
Speaking in this regard, the minister revealed changes have been brought to the structure following meetings held with President's Office. She also said possible changes that can be brought to the salary structure is being assessed while efforts are underway to introduce more allowances.
Commenting on the concerns raised by the Teachers Association of Maldives stating that teachers are unfamiliar with the new curriculum, Minister Aishath Ali mentioned efforts are underway to familiarise the teachers on the new curriculum.
