Opportunities to be given for doctors for further improvement

Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has revealed further opportunities must be provided for medical students to further improve and serve as doctors.

Speaking at a ceremony held at ADK Hospital to mark one year since heart surgeries were introduced to Maldives, the health minister assured the administration will assist to further enhance the private healthcare sector. He noted the importance of providing further educational and training opportunities for the students who have completed Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

Meanwhile, Managing Director of ADK Hospital Ahmed Affal stated the country is marking an exemplary achievement of the health sector, adding the success is proven by the number of patients seeking the services from Maldives.

While it has been one year since heart surgeries were introduced in ADK, the hospital has successfully performed 21 surgeries. The oldest person who underwent the surgery is an 82-year-old male.
