The parliament has approved five names President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih forwarded as nominations to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The parliament gave approval to four of the highest-scoring candidates and the seventh highest on the list. Candidates who were approved by the parliament are Ibrahim Shakeel, Fathimath Anoola, Mariyam Shiuna, Aishath Abdulla and Ali Ashraf. It is notable that out of the 5 members approved, 3 are women.
ACC consists of 5 members, who are selected based on their educational qualifications, work experience, and committee interviews.
The existing members who were appointed on 2014 expires on September 9.
