President sends condolences on demise of Sushma Swaraj

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent condolences on the demise of former Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj.

In a tweet extending condolences to loved ones of Sushma Swaraj, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the people of India, President Solih highlighted she was a public servant of an extraordinary calibre. He noted she is a great friend of Maldives and a daughter of India who will be dearly missed.

Sushma Swaraj met with President Solih when she was serving as the external affairs minister during her trip to Maldives earlier this year. During her tenure, major efforts were exerted to enhance ties between Maldives and India.

Sushma Swaraj passed away at the age of 67, after suffering a heart attack.
