Education Ministry launches projects to further develop 3 schools

Ministry of Education has contracted two private companies to construct 2 classrooms in Nellaidhoo School and two-storey multi-purpose halls in Thoddu School and Hulhudhuhfaaru School. The agreements were signed by Minister of State for Education Ahmed Riyaz.

Interlock Construction Private Limited was contracted to construct 2 classrooms in Nellaidhoo for a cost of about USD 131,000. Under the contract, the project should be completed by the end of December. The project would be financed from Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP). 271 students are enrolled in Nellaidhoo School, according to education ministry.

Furthermore, Wee Hour Investment Private Limited contracted to construct a multi-purpose hall in Thoddu and Hulhudhuhfaaru. The halls to accommodate 500 students should be completed within one year. The hall in Thoddu would cost USD 490,000 and the hall in Hulhudhuhfaaru will cost USD 475,000 and would be financed through PSIP. The halls would consist of a control room, storeroom, 2 changing rooms, 5 toilets, including one designed for children with special needs.
