Government of Maldives and Seychelles have signed several memoranda of understanding (MoU) to facilitate cooperation in a range of fields. The MoUs were signed during a special ceremony during President Solih's ongoing state visit to Seychelles.
In addition to a general cooperation agreement, the two governments established new frameworks for collaboration between the two foreign ministries, in tourism, blue economy, vocational training and youth development and in sports cooperation.
The administration is elated at the prospect of improving our constructive engagement in all of these important spheres, according to the President’s Office of Maldives. The Maldivian administration said with the recent successes in the 10th Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG), Maldives is excited to take forward sporting cooperation in particular and lay the groundwork for the next IOIG edition scheduled to be held in Maldives in 2023.
As part of the new avenues for collaboration agreed in the MoUs, it is hoped that the two countries can take the bilateral friendship to new heights, the President’s Office said.
