Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has forwarded names of three individuals who applied for the membership of the commission as representatives from the general public.
Submissions of Khalid Qasim, Zubair Ahmed Manik and Mirfath Faiz were forwarded to Parliament Committee on Judiciary for review. JSC opened opportunity to apply for the slot reserved for a representative from the public, as the term of Abdul Hannan Ahmed is about to expire.
The individual who applies for the position must be a Maldivian aged 25 years or above, must not hold a political post or be a member of a political party, must not have been convicted of fraud, bribery or an offence prescribed in Islamic Law.
An individual from the general public is appointed to JSC for a five-year term.
