President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent names to the parliament from the applications received for the position of Information Commissioner.
The president picked 4 names from the 9 applications which were received by the President's Office. The names sent to parliament include Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, Ahmed Fayaz, Ahmed Ahid Rasheed and Fathimath Saushan. The names have now been forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions to review.
Under the Right to Information Act, Abdul Aziz Jamal Aboobakur was appointed as the Information Commissioner on August 13, 2014. His term expired on July 22.
