President to embark on state visit to Seychelles

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to embark on a state visit to Seychelles, upon an invitation from President of Seychelles Danny Faure. The two-day state visit will begin on August 2 and President Solih will be accompanied by a high-level delegation which will include three ministers.

During the visit, President Solih will meet President Danny Faure and bilateral discussions will be held on areas such as tourism, the government's economic agenda, fisheries, sports and youth. Since Maldives and Seychelles share many challenges and concerns as small island states, the visit is expected to be geared towards the enhancement of bilateral relations which are of beneficial to both countries.

The official invitation of President Faure was presented during the recent visit of Secretary of State for Cabinet Affairs in the Office of the President of Seychelles Mohamed Afeef to Maldives, earlier this month.

Through the signing of several memoranda of understandings and a series of bilateral exchanges at the highest level, it is expected the visit will prove a boon to the friendly relations between two island-republics, according to the President's Office of Maldives.

Diplomatic relations between Seychelles and Maldives were established in July 1980.
