Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has revealed 125 cases related to children were reported in June. The gender ministry received and attended to a total of 241 cases last month, according to statistics.
Looking at separate cases, a total of 125 cases were reported and attended by the ministry regarding violence against children, which amounts to 52% of the total cases received and attended in June. The most frequently reported cases in this category involve cases of negligence, of which 41 cases were reported during the period. Other forms of violence against children include 36 cases of sexual abuse, 23 cases of physical abuse, 18 cases of emotional abuse, 4 cases of victims of bullying and harassment, 2 cases of victims of cyber bullying, 2 cases of refusal to vaccinate children and 1 case of witness to domestic violence.
Meanwhile, a total of 8 cases were reported and attended by the ministry in relation to child rights violations in last month. The reports include 3 cases of violation of right to shelter, 2 cases of refusal of access to education and 1 case of violation of right to health care and medical.
Furthermore, statistics showed that a total of 18 cases were reported and attended by the ministry which were reported as family issues, including 10 cases of custody or access, 5 cases of parenting issues and 3 cases of child maintenance. In addition, a total of 3 cases were reported and attended in regard to children in conflict with the law. The reports include 1 case of driving without a license and 1 case of physical assault or aggression.
Moreover, in terms of the cases related to behavioural problems of children, a total of 19 cases were reported and attended while the reports include 5 cases of running away and 5 cases of refusal to attend school.
