President's Office has stated the operation of the administration is not influenced by any government office or another institution, assuring the state is firmly run by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Spokesperson at the President's office, Chief Communications Strategist Ibrahim Hood refuted rumours that the president has no control over the state, adding there are no grounds for such claims. In this regard, the spokesperson stated the state is run without any influence from government offices or other institutions, but rather with the advisory of the cabinet.
However, opposition parliamentarians have claimed that the Parliament of Maldives influences the decisions of the administration. In this regard, speaking at a parliament sitting, opposition Parliamentarian Ahmed Shiyam said the state is run by the parliament, calling to give space for the administration to execute its mandate.
The executive power is vested in the president, who shall be the Head of State, the Head of Government, and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, according to chapter four of the constitution. Further, the president shall uphold, defend and respect the constitution, and shall promote the unity of the state and the president shall exercise executive authority as provided for in the constitution and law.
