Parliamentarian Jabir appointed as DRP Leader

Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has appointed Parliamentarian Abdulla Jabir as its leader. At a council meeting, Abdulla Jabir was appointed the leader of the second political party established in Maldives unanimously.

Speaking to PSM News, former Leader of DRP and former Parliamentarian Mohamed Nasheed said during the council meeting, appointments were made to senior posts, confirming Abdulla Jabir was appointed as the leader. Meanwhile, Mohamed Nasheed and Male' City Council Member Fishaavin Saleem was appointed as Deputy Leaders, former Spokesperson at President's Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali was appointed as the Secretary General and former Parliamentarian Abdulla Rifau was appointed as the Registrar of DRP.

The newly appointed Deputy Leader of DRP Mohamed Nasheed expressed hope that appointing Jabir as the leader of the party will bring remarkable changes to the party.

DRP have been relatively inactive in the political sphere of the country over internal disruptions and the debt of the party have also increased significantly. The new leadership aims to eliminate the debts and actively engage in the political sphere.
