Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has revealed efforts are underway to commence the bridge construction connecting Villimale'-Gulhifalhu-Thilafushi before the end of the year.
Planning Minister Aslam noted the projects which are allocated in the State Budget 2019 will be conducted, adding the administration is currently preparing to launch four mega projects. In this regard, he elaborated one such project is the bridge construction connecting Villimale'-Gulhifalhu-Thilafushi. The timeline for the project have been completed and seeking consultants to finalise the bridge design is in process, according to the planning minister.
Furthermore, the minister revealed one other project is the development of Domestic Maritime Transport Link which aims to strengthen the domestic transportation in Maldives. The minister highlighted since the aim is to connect all islands of Maldives, air transportation and sea transportation will be enhanced and improved. Noting transportation will be arranged to reach every island within 20 minutes, he expressed hope to establish an affordable system which the public can depend on.
Moreover, Planning Minister Aslam said currently Ministry of Economic Development is working to commence shifting Male' Commercial Harbour to Gulhifalhu.
