Vice President meets Hajj pilgrims

Vice President Faisal Naseem has assured any illegal activities conducted related to Hajj pilgrims will be closely monitored and stopped immediately.

Speaking to media after meeting the first group of Hajj pilgrims which departed to Saudi Arabia, Vice President Faisal Naseem stated the government prioritises everything which are relevant to Hajj pilgrims, adding legal action will be action against everyone who disregard laws and regulations. While six companies were given permission carry pilgrims to Hajj this year, Maldives Police Service is currently investigating a case over allegations that one company charged more than the agreed amount with Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Furthermore, the vice president reiterated the government attaches importance to arrange easier procedures for pilgrims, highlighting efforts are underway to identify challenges and solutions. He assured the administration will closely monitor the Maldivian pilgrim groups until they return.
