President Solih meets the Prime Minister of Mauritius

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth. This meeting was held as part of President Solih's ongoing official visit to Mauritius.

President Solih and Prime Minister Jugnauth illuminated shared concerns between the two island nations and emphasised the necessity of increasing cooperation in all fields of mutual interest, especially on climate change and maritime issues. The president thanked the prime minister for the excellent level of hospitality accorded to himself and his delegation by the Mauritanian Government during the visit.

Further, the president remarked on his delight that he was invited to visit the country during the ongoing Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) and witness its many sporting events. Both leaders noted that one of the underlying goals of the IOIG is to improve relations between the island nations of the Indian Ocean by creating an atmosphere of good-natured and friendly sporting competition. They noted island nations should always remain mindful of the mutual challenges faced and aspire to speak with a collective voice.

The president and the prime minister wished each other well and expressed optimism that the bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to prosper.
