Maldives will be provided with continued support: WHO

World Health Organisation (WHO) has assured Maldives will be provided with continued technical and other needed support to improve the health sector. The remark was made during a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem by the Regional Director of WHO for South East Asia, Dr. Poonam Khethrapal Singh.

During the call held at the President Office, the vice president expressed gratitude for the assistance and technical expertise provided by WHO. The vice president also mentioned the progress made in the health sector and challenges to it. He stated the importance given by the Government of Maldives in the development of the health sector and mentioned recent improvements in the sector.

Meanwhile, the regional director conveyed warm congratulations for the achievement of Maldives in eliminating diseases like Malaria and Measles and expressed the need for advocacy in preventing and raising awareness of non-communicable diseases in the country.
