Ministry of Home Affairs has allocated USD 311,805 for local councils to conduct small projects in the islands.
Home ministry reveals funds would be released for 17 local councils to conduct projects in 4 areas. The projects to be funded by the ministry include developing parks and installing street lights.
In this regard, the ministry has allocated USD 123,423 US dollars to install street lights in 7 islands and USD 110,431 US dollars to develop parks in 6 islands, with a further USD 84,447 allocated for other projects in 4 islands.
The ministry said 90 local councils requested for funds, although 17 islands were prioritised.
