Ministry of health has decided to construct a new building and transform the health centre in Milandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll to a hospital.
New services would be introduced in the island with the transformation of the health centre to a hospital, according to Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen. The new services include gynaecology, paediatrics, internal medicine, anaesthesiology, dentistry, physiotherapy, dialysis and surgeries.
The health minister revealed a conference hall and a vaccine storeroom would be developed as part of the efforts to expand the facility. The minister said after the transformation, the hospital would graded as a class 1 healthcare facility.
Furthermore, the health ministry has also begun efforts to expand the health centre in Hulhumeedhoo in Addu City. The project is expected to cost about USD 85,000 and would be completed within 75 days.
The administration plans to develop hospitals in 10 regions of the country, by transforming the existing facilities. The first phase includes the expansion of 5 health centres.
