Parliament appoints 11 ambassadors to 25 countries

Parliament of Maldives has approved to appoint 11 ambassadors to 25 countries, in the capacity of non-resident ambassadors, as requested by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The appointments were passed unanimously by all the parliamentarians participating in the vote.

  • Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka Umar Abdul Razzaq appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Seychelles, Mauritius and Kazakhstan
  • Ambassador of Maldives to India Aishath Mohamed Didi appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Afghanistan and Bhutan
  • Ambassador Maldives to Malaysia Visam Ali appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei and Indonesia
  • Ambassador of Maldives to Singapore Dr. Abdulla Mausoom appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to New Zealand and Australia
  • Ambassador of Maldives to Japan Ibrahim Uvais appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to South Korea
  • Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia Mohamed Khaleel appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Kuwait and Jordon
  • Ambassador of Maldives to UAE Dr. Hussain Niyaz appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Oman and Bahrain
  • Ambassador of Maldives to the UK Dr. Farhanaz Faisal appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Ireland, France and Spain
  • Ambassador of Maldives to Germany Ahmed Latheef appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Norway, Demark, Sweden, Finland and Russia
  • Ambassador of Maldives to Belgium and the EU Hassan Sobir appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Netherlands and Luxemburg
  • Ambassador of Maldives to the US and the UN Thilmeeza Hussain appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Canada

Prior to the appointments as non-resident ambassadors, Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations approved the nominations, citing they are already appointed ambassadors tasked with expanding relations with other foreign countries.
