Tourist establishments in 10 atolls have been inspected

Ministry of Tourism Ali Waheed has revealed tourist establishments in 10 atolls have been inspected, as part of the efforts to ensure the safety and security of tourists.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister Ali Waheed said teams from Ministry of Tourism have completed the inspection of tourist establishments in Male' City, Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll, Vaavu Atoll, Faafu Atoll, Gaafu Alifu Atoll and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The minister said during the inspection of the entities that provide services to tourists, the teams monitored whether service providers follow the necessary laws and regulations. He said the nation-wide inspection would be completed by the end of September, adding a minimum requirement approval sticker would be issued to the establishments that fits the criteria of the ministry. He also said the establishments would be inspected annually with the sticker renewed after each inspection.

In efforts to inspect all entities that provide services to tourists and monitor whether the service providers follow the necessary laws and regulations, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has established a committee. The inspections are expected to identify issues in the establishments and improve the sector.
