More funds allocated for Nationwide Breakfast Programme

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated more funds have been allocated for the nationwide breakfast programme initiated by the administration.

Speaking at a press conference held at President's Office, President Solih said funds provided for the nationwide breakfast programme have been increased to ensure the children are provided with the best healthy meals. In this regard, he revealed although initially USD 10 million was allocated for the nationwide breakfast programme, the amount has now been increased to USD 12 million.

The administration launched a breakfast programme for all government-owned schools in Maldives on June 11. However, some schools have not received a service provider and some parents have raised complaints regarding the items available under the programme.

Ministry of Education has said efforts are underway to solve the issues, adding the breakfast menus have been increased from 10-17.
