Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has expressed the new five-year tourism master plan will bring solutions to the issues faced in the sector.
Speaking to PSM News, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed revealed the new five-year tourism master plan will be launched on July 30. The minister said the plan would prioritise providing job opportunities for Maldivian from the tourism industry. He added attempts would be made to make tourism a liable industry, with a special priority given to provide a secure environment to women. He noted women make up only 7 percent of the workforce in the tourism industry, adding changes need to be made to increase the number of women working in the tourism sector.
The tourism minister revealed the Fifth Tourism Master Plan would be compiled with the assistance from experts from the industry and foreign consultants.
