Bed capacity in Maldives increases by 13 percent

Ministry of Tourism has revealed the bed capacity in Maldives has increased by 13 percent.

Until the end of May, 48,539 beds were registered to cater for tourists, according to statistics published by the ministry. There were only 43,050 beds registered for tourists by the end of 2018.

The statistics showed an increase in bed capacity in resorts and guesthouses. Although resorts had 30,545 beds by the end of 2018, the amount has increased to 33,250 in the first 5 months of 2019. Meanwhile, beds in guesthouses had increased to 8,918 from 8,017.

Maldives operated 45,434 beds in the first 5 months of the year, with the number of nights tourists spending in the country showed an increase of 12 percent.
