Capacity building programmes to be held to empower MNDF area commands

Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal has revealed plans to hold capacity building programmes in efforts to empower area commands and to provide services closer to citizens.

Speaking in a press conference held by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Major General Abdulla Shamaal stated he does not believe that service officers from Male' City must be dispatched to the islands to attend incidents. In this regard, he said the atoll commands must be empowered to provide the best services for the citizens and must instil the capacity to attend incidents in the areas.

The MNDF chief noted important work done by area commands established in several parts of the country, highlighting incidents such as search and rescue operations and carrying sick patients from island to island. He expressed further efforts are being exerted to enhance the security of the country.

In this context, the major general added special training programmes serve in strengthening national security of the whole country.
