Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tree Top Hospital, on transfer of cases between the two hospitals.
At a signing ceremony held at IGMH, the MoU on transfer of cases with regard to knee joint replacement surgery was also signed with Aasandha Company Limited, which provides the national healthcare insurance scheme.
The agreement was forged to address the needs of the increasing number of cases pending at IGMH. Under the agreement, although surgeries would be carried out for some patients at Tree Top Hospital, they can claim insurance to cover the costs.
Chief Executive Officer of IGMH Ibrahim Saleem said cases are being piled up at the hospital due to inadequate bed capacity. He revealed at the moment, 177 people have been shortlisted for knee joint replacement surgery at IGMH, in addition to the approximately 300 patients awaiting knee joint replacement surgery in OPD. The aim is to address the backlog by the end of the year, according to IGMH.
Under the MoU signed between IGMH and Tree Top Hospital, a package of USD 4,209 has been allocated for knee joint replacement surgery, all of which can be covered under the state-sponsored insurance scheme.
