President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Hassan Luthufee has submitted his resignation.
The President's Office received his letter of resignation earlier today, according to the Spokesperson at President's Office, Chief Communications Strategist Ibrahim Hood.
The resignation comes at a time when the parliament is making preparations to take a no-confidence vote against him. In this regard, Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has passed to remove Luthufee from the position, pending a final vote on the parliament floor.
ACC said Luthufee had been on leave since February 10 and has failed to return back to office despite the expiration of his leave three months ago. He have regularly withdrawn his salary during the time, according to ACC.
Luthufee was appointed to ACC in October 2010.
