President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with members of the Faafu Atoll Council. The meeting was held at the President’s Office where members of the council discussed the most pertinent and urgent issues faced by residents of Faafu Atoll.
The council members highlighted some urgent concerns such as the interruption to the ferry system and the lack of a domestic airport which has led to stunted growth of the tourism industry within the atoll. The council members expressed their aspirations to develop a stronger hospitality presence in the atoll and discussed several smaller projects and developments in individual islands such as the reclamation project in Feeali, the installation of ATMs in islands, and instigation of operations of the Regional Emergency Response Centre established at Magoodhoo.
The president updated the council members with the latest updates on some of the discussed projects and developments and assured the council members he would discuss the highlighted concerns with the relevant ministries and officials.
