The regional technical training workshop on Effective Prevention and Intervention of the use of Internet and Social Media by Young Adults for Terrorist Recruitment in South Asia organised by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) has concluded successfully.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Keiko Yanai highlighted the importance of working towards the same goal to counter terrorism and extremism. She further noted the efforts of the Japanese Government to combat terrorism and extremism.
Meanwhile, NCTC thanked the government and the people of Japan for their generous contribution to develop Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism (P-CVE) efforts in Maldives.
A total of 33 participants from 3 countries took part in the workshop, according to NCTC. The workshop brought together practitioners of law enforcement and investigative agencies from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives.
The three-day workshop also aimed to strengthen investigative and analytical capabilities of participants.
