Italy's Blue Panorama commences flights

Italian budget airline Blue Panorama has commenced flight operations to Maldives.

The maiden flight of Blue Panorama arrived in Maldives from Poland marking the beginning of direct flights between the two countries. Blue Panorama carried 264 passengers in its maiden flight to Maldives.

Blue Panorama was welcomed at a ceremony held at Velana International Airport (VIA) which was attended by senior officials of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Speaking to the media regarding the operations of Blue Panorama, Managing Director of Sun Oceans Abdulla Rasheed said since Blue Panorama has initiated flight operations to Maldives in the past, some challenges were caused in recommencing the operations. He added flights to other destinations will commence in the future, although currently Blue Panorama conducts flights to Poland.

Meanwhile, acting Managing Director of MACL Moosa Solih described the commencement of operations from a new airline as an achievement.

Blue Panorama Airlines was founded in September 3, 1998 by Franco Pecci and has a fleet of 16. Currently, 2 airlines from Italy operate to the Maldives.
