Parliament of Maldives has approved bill on empowering presidential commissions formed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The bill was passed with the consensus of all 67 parliamentarians in attendance. The bill was passed after three failed attempts at the 18th parliament resulted in the bill being removed from the agenda. The failed attempts resulted in a lot of backlash, at the time, both from the public and the government.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih formulated two presidential commissions; to investigate murders and enforced disappearances, and to investigate corruption and recover missing state funds.
