President invites Japanese Prime Minister to visit Maldives

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has invited Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, to undertake an official visit to the Maldives at a time of mutual convenience.

The official invitation was extended at the courtesy call made by the Special Advisor of the Prime Minister of Japan Kentaro Sonoura on President Solih. During the meeting, the president thanked the apecial advisor for visiting the Maldives and for his participation and input at the ongoing Maldives Partnership Forum, highlighting the deep affection held by Japan to Maldives.

Moreover, President acknowledged the substantial contribution made by Japan towards the Maldives' socio-economic betterment and for the recent generous assistance of a Fire Boat and Landing Craft, worth USD 4.6 million.

Further discussions were held regarding the president’s upcoming visit to Japan later this year.
