Ambassadors from New Zealand, Australia, Malta and Bahrain submit credentials

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has received credentials from the new ambassadors of New Zealand, Australia, Bahrain and Malta.

Following individual formal welcome ceremonies held at the President's Office, Ambassador-designate of New Zealand Joanne Tyndall, Ambassador-designate of Australia David John Holly, Ambassador-designate of Malta Stephen Borg and Ambassador-designate of Bahrain Abdulrahman Mohamed Al-Gaoud conferred status as their government's chosen representatives to Maldives.

Each ambassador spoke warmly of the bilateral relations their countries have with the Maldives, and their eagerness to continue ongoing cooperation with Maldives in fields of mutual benefit.

The president, in turn, expressed his keenness to actively engage with all our international partners, to progress the development agenda of Maldives, whilst upholding his foreign-policy pledge that his administration will solicit the friendship of all nations. The president thanked the ambassadors in particular for their countries' participation in the upcoming Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 to be held at Kurumba Maldives from June 17-18.

The Forum will be the largest multilateral gathering held in Maldives in several years and welcomes development partners from across the globe to pursue new avenues for positive collaboration. As the ambassadors take up their new responsibilities, the president wished each of them success in fulfilling their duties and expressed optimism that friendships will prosper during their ambassadorial tenures.
