Maldives hold meeting with environment ministers of past and present

Maldives has held a panel meeting with environment ministers of past and present commemorating World Environment Day. The meeting was aimed to convey information about environment related initiations during all times and to seek comments from environment ministers to enhance the sector.

The meeting was attended by 7 ministers who served at the ministry from 1987 to 2018. Although a total of 9 ministers filled the position during the period, 2 ministers failed to attend the meeting. The environment ministers who attended the meeting were Umar Zahir, Abdul Rasheed Hussain, Ahmed Abdulla, Abdulla Mausoom, Mohamed Aslam, Mariyam Shakeela and Thoriq Ibrahim.

During the meeting, participants spoke on how projects were conducted during their terms and their hopes for the future. Moreover, past experiences, present challenges and future plans for the environment sector were discussed in the meeting.

Speaking during the meeting, the current Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan disseminated information about upcoming projects envisioned by the administration to protect the natural habitat and the environment as a whole.

The meeting was attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and individuals from the field.
