Regulation on extraction of sand from beaches abolished

Ministry of Tourism has decided to abolish the regulation on extraction of sand from beaches.

In a press statement, the tourism ministry said several complaints have been received regarding some individuals from the tourism industry neglecting the environment in contrary to laws and regulations.

The tourism ministry revealed following such complaints, a circular was issued in April and May to all tourism related establishments reminding to abide the laws and regulations. However, the tourism ministry stated it has now decided to take action against neglecters and violators. In this regard, the ministry has decided to abolish soil extraction regulation formed to enrich the resort beaches.

The ministry elaborated It is crucial for the regulation to be abolished to protect the reefs and the delicate environment as a whole.
