National awards nominations opened until July 3

President's Office has opened nominations for National Awards.

The directive of National Awards has now been published in the gazette, according to President's Office. The National Awards will be conferred in 33 areas.

The President's Office said discussions were held with government ministries and other relevant authorities to bring necessary changes. Similar to previous years, government offices, independent institutions, companies, associations, and individuals can propose nominations for the awards through appropriate government agencies, and by submitting the designated nomination forms. The nomination forms must be submitted before July 3 to President's Office addressed to National Awards Committee.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided that henceforward, the annual National Awards conferred to Maldivians who have made exemplary contributions in various fields will be awarded on National Day. The decision was made on the consideration that the work and accomplishments of such individuals have had a positive impact on the country and therefore it is befitting that they should be presented accolades on National Day.
