President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have jointly inaugurated the Composite Training Facility of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in Maafilafushi and the Coastal Surveillance Radar System by remote link. The training facility and radar system were inaugurated as part of the two-day state visit by the Indian prime minister to Maldives.
After a ceremonial welcome in the capital, Malé City, President Solih and Prime Minister Modi held one-on-one talks followed by delegation level talks in a warm, cordial and friendly atmosphere. Following the talks, Maldives and India signed 6 agreements in 5 key areas. The agreements include memorandum of understanding for Cooperation in the Field of Hydrography, memorandum of understanding on Cooperation in the field of Health, memorandum of understanding for the Establishment of Passenger and Cargo Services by Sea, memorandum of understanding for Cooperation in Customs Capacity Building between the Maldives Customs Service and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs of India, memorandum of understanding between Maldives Civil Service Commission and National Centre for Good Governance, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances on Training and Capacity Building Programme for Maldivian Civil Servants and Technical Agreement on Sharing White Shipping Information between the Indian Navy and the MNDF.
President Solih will host an Official Banquet in honour of PM Modi later this evening.
