Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has held discussions with the parliamentary group leaders on the special sitting in which Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will address the Parliament.
All parties represented in the parliament took part in the meeting held at the Parliament Secretariat. In this regard, Parliamentary Group Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Ahmed Shiyam, Parliamentary Group Leader of People’s National Congress (PNC) Adam Shareef, Deputy Parliamentary Group Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Mohamed Nazim and Leader of Maldivian Development Alliance (MDA) Ahmed Siyam attended the discussions. It has been announced Prime Minister Modi will address the parliament tomorrow evening at 1845 hours.
Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Maldives tomorrow evening and will hold official talks with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih before signing 6 memorandum of understandings to further boost ties between the two countries. Modi has chosen Maldives for his first oversea visit since assuming office for a second term about 2 weeks ago. In his maiden visit to Maldives, Modi attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Solih last December.
