Vice President Faisal Naseem has called to be more attentive than now when riding and driving vehicles. The vice president made the remarks while inaugurating the road safety campaign initiated by Ministry and Transport and Civil Aviation and Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice President Naseem said the amount of road accidents occurring in Maldives are worrisome, especially in the capital, Male’ City. Noting road accidents have killed some while others have been disabled, he urged to be more attentive and careful to avoid accidents.
Furthermore, the vice president revealed the government prioritises safety and protection in all aspects of life. He expressed the efforts of the government can only be achieved by collective cooperation from all citizens, adding a person can reach the destination at ease with controlled speed in a small amount of time in Maldives.
Moreover, during the address, the vice president appealed riders and drivers to respect pedestrians, urging to give space to cross the roads. On the same context, he asked pedestrians to obey and follow the road safety rules.
