India grant financial support to establish emergency medical services

The Government of India has granted over USD 483,000 to establish emergency medical services in Ihavandhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the Indian Government has granted USD 483,707 to Maldivian Government to establish emergency medical services in Ihavandhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll. The purpose of establishing emergency medical care services across the atolls is to provide access to medical care for urgent or life-threatening injury, illness and urgent medical intervention. The project involves development of infrastructure and procurement of machinery needed towards setting up an emergency medical services unit at the Ihavandhoo Health Centre.

The grant assistance was provided through the USD 6.9 million granted to Maldives by India during the visit of the Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj in last March. The aim of the grant assistance is to conduct socio-economic development projects across the country which are of high impact.
