Maldives have begun inspecting the safety and security of tourism establishments in Fuvahmulah City and Addu City to ensure the safety of tourists. The inspection is done by Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The tourism ministry first inspected the tourism establishment on February as part of the nationwide inspection programme. Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed revealed inspection of all entities that provide services to tourists will be conducted in 6-8 months.
In efforts to inspect all entities that provide services to tourists and monitor whether the service providers follow the necessary laws and regulations, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has established a committee. The inspections are expected to identify issues in the establishments and improve the sector.
