Health Minister meets Spanish Queen

Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has met the Queen of Spain Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano.

The meeting was held at the side-lines of the 72nd Session of the World Health Assembly which is underway in Geneva, Switzerland. At the meeting, Minister Ameen and the Queen of Spain held discussions on the impact of climate change and energy consumption on health.

In his speech at the 72nd Session of the World Health Assembly, Minister Ameen highlighted the achievements of Maldives in the health sector and highlighted that despite the large portion of the state budget set aside for healthcare, the country is in need of more to ensure universal health coverage.

194 member states of the World Health Organisation (WHO) are taking part in the meeting from May 20-28. Many important decisions regarding global health would be taken during the meeting. The World Health Assembly is the largest meeting with health policy makers, actors drawn from across the world.
