Sri Lanka releases last two Maldivians held in custody

A Sri Lankan Court has released two Maldivians arrested in the operations conducted by Sri Lankan security forces following the April 21 bomb attacks.

With 8 Maldivians arrested in total, 2 Maldivians were remanded in jail since late April. The two Maldivians were arrested after the security forces found a book with information on ISIS was found from their apartment. The two Maldivians arrested; Adam Mohamed Manik and Hassan Manik, were released with no charges raised.

Meanwhile, Maldivian Government has asked the Sri Lankan Government to ensure safety and protection of Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka and travelling to the country.

Security operations have been enhanced in Sri Lanka following the series of bombings which took place on April 21.
